This is part one of our first ever mushroom cultivation lab series, in which we will learn to grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms from scratch using simple, low cost, high yield cultivation techniques.

In this session, you will learn how to generate mother culture from live mushrooms. The mother culture is *the* start point that allows cultivators to grow an endless supply of mushrooms. We will work with cultivated Blue Oyster mushrooms in this workshop. If you have a mushroom you've grown or bought from a store that you want to culture, just bring it along! We will also discuss how to set up a DIY lab at home.

WHAT TO BRING....

Just bring curiosity and willingness to learn and explore. We will provide everything you need in the class. For the hands-on sessions, we ask you to contribute a $40 lab fee to cover supplies and organizing cost. This is the lowest rate we could afford to offer now, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Please get in touch for more information.

ABOUT THE MUSHROOM CULTIVATION LAB SERIES....

We will meet every other week for 4 sessions starting March 20 to go through the entire cultivation process and get as much hands-on as possible. We will generate mother cultures from live mushrooms, produce large quantities of mushroom mycelium (known commercially as spawn), and finally build grow kits for fruiting mushrooms. By the time when we finish up in May, you will have the knowledge and skills to start cultivation on your own right away.

This hands-on mushroom cultivation series is for anyone who wants to gain confidence as a mushroom cultivator and learn low cost high yield techniques to grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. Previous experience is not required. It's all about getting your hands dirty (or...clean indeed) and learning!

Look forward to growing with you!
